Blue Rolfes named director of communications at Laf. Diocese

KLFY anchor makes career change after four decades in local broadcast biz.

Former KLFY-TV10 anchor Blue Rolfes has been named director of communications for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lafayette, taking on responsibility for managing and directing communication on behalf of the bishop and the Diocese.

According to a statement from the Diocese, she is supervising the communication staff, working in all media areas — social, digital, print, radio, video and television. She also has joined Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel’s senior staff, charged with updating and implementing communication and evangelization strategies that spread the Catholic Faith. She is the key spokeswoman and media contact for the Diocese.

The Diocese of Lafayette, which turns 100 next year, serves eight civil parishes, 320,000 Catholics, 121 church parishes and 38 schools. It has 190 priests, 112 deacons, 47 seminarians and approximately 2,000 lay employees.

The job is actually a return to the Diocese, where Rolfes first worked in 1978 as an employee in the communications department. A year later, in February 1979, she began working for KLFY, where she remained until March 1.

Rolfes is married to former Lafayette Consolidated Government Chief Administrative Officer Dee Stanley, who is now vice president and general manager at Sides & Associates.
