Taylors International expands to Brazil, Mexico

by Leslie Turk

Ranked No. 29 on ABiz's list of Acadiana's Top 50 Privately Held Companies last year, Taylors International is extending its international reach. Founded in 1996 by G.T. "Butch" Darce, Taylors International Services has added Brazil and Mexico to its growing list of international offices. Taylors already operates in Iraq, Afghanistan, Thailand and the British Virgin Islands, with all offices overseen by the company's headquarters right here in Lafayette. What started as a small offshore catering company focused on serving the Gulf of Mexico region now provides catering and support services to a worldwide base of clients.

The company employs more than 700 people with a little less than half of those based in Acadiana.

Taylors took in more than $55 million in revenues in 2010, earning it the No. 29 ranking on ABiz's list of Acadiana's Top 50 privately held companies last year.

In 2005, Taylors formed Phoenix Hospitality Management, a venture that united the resources for both offshore and land-based catering services. Taylors and Phoenix are now servicing more than 100 clients in the oil and gas industry as well as a wide range of land-based companies. Taylors also serves customers in the health care industry, military camps and operations, and other institutions.

Taylors Brazil will have offices in Rio de Janeiro and MacaƩ. It already has formed partnerships with multiple vendors capable of providing food, materials and supplies. Cuidad del Carmen will be the home of Taylors Mexico. The company says an established supply chain in place assures uninterrupted supplies and services to all areas of the Gulf of Mexico.

At the Brazil and Mexico locations, Taylors will offer catering and a full suite of related services both offshore and onshore.

Taylors will be hiring 35 to 50 new employees to support the new international facilities.
