Dozens of Acadiana's top employers will be on hand to screen potential job candidates at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority's Job Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.

Now in its seventeenth year, the LEDA Job Fair bills itself the largest job recruitment event in Acadiana. Officials say last year more than 100 companies, from all sectors of business and industry, participated in the event and similar numbers are expected this year. Since the fair's inception, hundreds of Acadiana's top employers have successfully recruited job candidates at the one-day event.

Recruiters from Schumacher Group, one of the fastest-growing companies in Acadiana, talk to potential applicants at the 2011 LEDA Job Fair.

"LEDA works diligently to secure a good cross-section of employers, reflective of the region's business base," LEDA President and CEO Gregg Gothreaux said in a press release. "These companies are offering jobs ranging from entry-level to executive, from those needing little training to those requiring advanced degrees."

The E-Application Station, sponsored by the Louisiana Workforce Commission-Business and Career Solutions Center, will be available allowing job seekers to apply for positions available at participating companies, in addition to searching and applying for thousands of additional jobs in the region and throughout the state.

Career Consultant Danielle Dayries returns to the LEDA Job Fair with her popular series of job seeker seminars:
·10 a.m.-How to Ace an Interview
·11 a.m.-Following up after the Job Fair
·1 p.m.-Résumé Writing

The seminars are held in the job fair exhibit hall. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seminar seating is limited.

The LEDA Job Fair is free to job seekers, and there is no pre-registration. Job seekers should dress professionally and bring copies of their résumés. The list of participating employers is updated online daily. Click here for the latest jobs fair developments and more info.
