by Heather Miller

Located in the former Bonnie Bell's Bistro, Pane & Vino is serving up Italian lunches and dinners on Jefferson Street. Maurizio Principato, a Sicily native and former owner of Italian Food Market Bistro and Delicatessen on Johnston Street, is bringing his Italian roots to downtown Lafayette for a new restaurant venture.

Pane & Vino is open at the corner of Convent and Jefferson streets in the building that most recently housed Bonnie Bell's Bistro. The Italian restaurateur's business partners for the downtown location are Virginia Farmer and Paul Gibson.

Caprese, calamari, paninis and other traditional Italian dishes line the new eatery's lunch menu, while heavier meals like Veal Marsala and Gnocchi are saved for dinner. Lunch prices range from roughly $9 to $13.

Pane & Vino is open for lunch Tuesday - Friday and for dinner Tuesday - Saturday.
