La. contractors look to double licensing fee

Approximately $1.7 million raised by increase would fund state's certified schools of construction management and technology. Baton Rouge's Daily Report notes in a Tuesday story that the state's contractors are supporting a bill that would increase their annual licensing fee from $100 to $200.

The additional $1.7 million raised by the fee increase would go to the state's certified schools of construction management and technology.

"Since higher education funding is so hard to come by in this state, we thought it would be a good way for the schools to fund their construction programs," Ken Naquin, CEO of the Louisiana Associated General Contractors, whose membership is about 22,000, tells Daily Report.
