The annual ArtWalk celebrating the life and work of famed South Louisiana landscape painter and professor Elemore Morgan Jr. is pulling out all the stops Saturday from 6-9 in downtown Lafayette.

The annual ArtWalk celebrating the life and work of famed South Louisiana landscape painter and professor Elemore Morgan Jr. is pulling out all the stops Saturday from 6-9 in downtown Lafayette.

The event will be punctuated by a return of the Tattooed Walls Project in Parc Sans Souci. Art will be created a projected live onto (presumably) the Children's Museum wall adjacent to the park by artists Kathy Reed, David Alpha, Mare Martin, Jamie Baldridge, Lisa Osborn and Brian Kelly accompanied by live music by Dickie Landry and Chad Viator.

Over at the Lafayette Public Library, which is currently a shell of its former self (literally), the Recover Lafayette: Library Wall Project will be unveiled in a joint endeavor by the 705 (young professional's club), the UL School of Architecture and Design, Downtown Lafayette and the Lafayette Public Library System.

The downtown galleries and restaurants will be open, many with new exhibits. But don't forget to drop by the James Moncus Theater at the Acadiana Center for the Arts for a very cool literary event: Le Mot/The Word. This will feature poetry readings in English, French and German (!) by Darrell Bourque, Clare L. Martin, Elizabeth Burk, J. Bruce Fuller, Michael J. Leblanc, Gerd Wuestemann and Brenda Cary.

Of special interest to us is an exhibition of sculpture and photography at the Ballet Académie on Polk street in the Russo building adjacent to Parc Sans Souci. IND staffer Robin Hebert's photography, along with sculpture by Kelly Guidry, will be on display. Robin is super talented and we're stoked she's finally getting her work out there!
