Lafayette General Medical Center and Lafayette General Health have signed on as the title sponsor for this year's Corporate Challenge to benefit Healing House. The event is Saturday, Oct. 26, in Downtown Lafayette at Parc Putnam, which is located across from the federal courthouse on Lafayette Street. The challenge consists of a 5K run/walk and unique team events and entertainment for participants.

It's been called Acadiana's biggest outdoor office party with the goal of showing how "fit" you are for business. The day begins with a one-mile kids fun run followed by the 5K race. After the run, teams will have the chance to tackle challenges like the Backpacker dash to show how fast you can run 40 yards with a heavy backpack in a slalom course or the cell phone toss where competitors bring an old cell phone and toss into buckets - tossed phones will be donated to charity.

What would a team competition be without a tug of war - the ultimate test of endurance and will among co-workers?

In addition to the fitness events, wellness industry companies will be on hand at the INDHealth Wellness Expo where businesses have the ability to reach professionals with their services and products geared toward corporate wellness and fitness. For more information on how to sign up for team events, the INDHealth Wellness Expo or a sponsorship, contact Corporate Challenge at [email protected] or visit the website, www.mycorporatechallenge.com.
