Bayou Rum and Louisiana Spirits grand opening celebration

by Kari Walker

Make the drive to Lacassine this Saturday to taste the "Spirit of Louisiana"

Louisiana Spirits located in Lacassine will open its facility this Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. for the community to come out and see what Bayou Rum is all about. The distillery is home to both Silver Bayou Rum and Spiced Bayou Rum made from fresh sugarcane harvested from Louisiana fields.

The brand new facility is the largest privately-owned rum distillery in the US and the staff believes to experience the true "Spirit of Louisiana," you have to taste and see for yourself - the grand opening celebration is just that opportunity to tour the facility and also pass a good time with family activities like hay rides, a rock wall, music from Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys and of course, food and drinks.

The Jeff Davis tourism center will have baby gators from its Gator Chateau for children to hold and learn all about alligators of South Louisiana.

Tours will begin every hour to see how Bayou Rum is made followed by tasting and cocktails - each adult will receive two tickets for signature drinks, like the Bayou Classic that was crafted by Kasey Granger and Pamplona Tapas Bar.

Louisiana Spirits is located at 20909 South I-10 Frontage Road in Lacassine. Click here for additional information.
