Party Girl

Party Girl

With the holiday season and party circuit in full swing, I'm also remembering my 2006 New Year's resolutions ' being healthy, happy and on constant holiday. To get a head start for 2007 in the health and happiness department, I recently walked for a cause to help stay in shape. The American Heart Association's Heart Walk (for heart and stroke research) was held in River Ranch on a sunny Saturday. My good friends of Van Eaton and Romero rubbed elbows with Party Girl, rather than tripping over my toes. Good thing this event was all about pace, not a race.

The good doctors at Opelousas General further helped my recurring resolution for a healthy new year at the open house celebrating the relocation of the Opelousas General Health System's Physical & Occupational Therapy Outpatient facility. Doctors, therapists and board members enjoyed healthy treats and inspiring speeches. Being healthy consists of many things like getting enough exercise â?¦ and running to another party!

Since culture always makes me feel happy, I trucked over to the Frame Shop and Gallery 912's artist reception on Friday, Dec. 8. The event marked the debut of Vergie Banks' new serigraphs, featuring her celebrated "Little Red Tricycle" series. The very limited serigraphs were created by Larry Schuh, a master printer from Lake Charles. All in attendance were filled with joy by the whimsical prints. I left with memories of my childhood flooding my mind. Wish I had my little red tricycle; that would make a great conversation piece to go with a Little Red Tricycle print.

Then it was time to get down to business at the official "Re-Grand Opening" of the Centennial Wireless in Time Plaza and its V.I.P. reception. A complete redesign of the facility was unveiled along with a cake featuring the Centennial Wireless logo from Southside Bakery, fabulous food and beverages from a la carte and an official ribbon cutting with members from the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. If these holiday business events and parties keep up at this pace, I might have to take a week off to start 2007!
