JUN 18 Here's a classic Tom Aswell post, this one taking a look at a testing company connected to Rupert Murdoch and the state DOE. It's a long post, heavy on detail, that follows all the twisted tentacles back to their source.

CASSIDY NOT TRUTHFUL ABOUT VET COMMENTS?
JUN 18 Congressman Bill Cassidy got hit by PolitFact.com for his comments about shoddy, sorry health care for veterans, this post on the fact-checking website tells us. Cassidy said it wasn't until after the news started reporting that vets were dying that Democrats tried to fund clinics. Turns out the Ds did try to fund them -- but their bill was blocked by Republicans. WUPS!

NOLA TOPS CITIES WITH GRAD INFLUX
JUN 18 This post on Forbes takes a look at American cities that are demonstrating an increased percentage of college grads. At the top is the New Orleans area, probably due to the lingering effects of Katrina on the city's population, and the way that population restoration has occurred.

VIDEO OF DAVE LOOKING LIKE HE DON'T KNOW NOTHING
JUN 18 You would think that David Vitter would be a little better prepared to respond to media questions about big issues in Louisiana -- but apparently he believes he doesn't need to do that in order to be Governor (and given recent evidence, he could be right). JINDAL'S FOXES CAUGHT PLUCKING HENS
JUN 18 CB Forgotston is disappointed (well, not really, you know he loves this stuff) that another one of Gov. Jindal's employees has been found to have misused state funds. Again, he says, it was a person in a position that is meant to keep others' spending in line. What's up with that?

JUN 18 The sentencing of former NOLA Mayor Ray Nagin on corruption and bribery convictions has been delayed again, the NOLA Defender blog reports here. It now is set for July 9.

RSD BUDGET SHRINKING - SINCE IT HAS NO SCHOOLS
JUN 18 The Recovery School District's budget is slimming down, now that there are no more public schools in New Orleans, The Lens reports here. There are nothing but charter schools in the district now, so most of the budget is just focusing on construction, fixing up buildings owned by the public that are being used by charter companies.
