Red Arrow shooting for AcA

by Walter Pierce

The hip little River Ranch shop will open in the Acadiana Center for the Arts in time for the September ArtWalk.

Red Arrow Workshop, which is celebrating its second anniversary in business today, will open a satellite location in the Acadiana Center for the Arts in September. The AcA says the River Ranch shop that specializes in handmade and often eccentric gifts including apparel, jewelry and home accents curated by owners Jillian Johnson and Jason Brown will celebrate its grand opening during the Second Saturday ArtWalk on Sept. 13.

"As residents of downtown, Jason and I are thrilled to bring our retail concept to the downtown area, and in partnership with AcA, help to create a complete experience for visitors," Johnson says in a press release announcing the venture. "With everything that's happening at AcA, you can now come and spend half the day there; check out the art in the galleries, grab a drink and a snack, do a little shopping, hang out in the lounge with friends or get a little work done with the free wifi, and even catch a movie or performance in the evening."

Red Arrow will fill a 650 square foot space in the first-floor Coca-Cola Gallery. It will become the second outside vendor establish commerce within the AcA, joining The Lab coffee shop, which also has a location in River Ranch.
