The fun begins at noon with a Bach Lunch performance by Soul Creole, a hot new band featuring Louis Michot of Lost Bayou Ramblers and zydeco hotshot Corey Ledet on accordion. Bach Lunch is a fundraiser for the Lafayette Science Museum and the $6 boxed lunches - provided this week by Chick-Fil-A, Creole Lunch House and O'Charley's Restaurant - help keep the event free. Get there early for the lunch, which typically sells out by noon.

At 6 p.m. Downtown Alive! kicks out the jams with a performance by Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters, a New Orleans fave and probably the only zydeco band fronted by a rubboard player. Downtown Alive! is also a free fundraiser for the Downtown Development Authority and concession sales, which begin at 5:30, help keep it that way so please leave the ice chests at home.
