BBR Creative wins Best of Show at Saturday's ADDYs

by Leslie Turk

The big winner at Saturday's Acadiana Advertising Federation's annual ADDY awards was BBR Creative, capturing the Best of Show-print. The firm won 19 gold awards, among which were for Cane River Pecan Co. packaging; stationery and logo for downtown's Pamplona restaurant; and mixed media campaigns for the Woman's Center for Wellness in Baton Rouge and the grand opening for Backpacker in River Ranch.

The event was held in the IberiaBank Tower in conjunction with ArtWalk. The awards were presented immediately following ArtWalk.

In other top categories, Graham Group's Kiki Frayard took home the Copywriter of the Year honor, BBR's Denise Gallagher was named Art Director of the Year, and KATC-TV3 Marketing Director Arte Richard captured the Electronic Producer of the Year award. The Independent Weekly had its moment in the spotlight as well, as co-publisher Odie Terry was honored with The Silver Medal Award for lifetime achievement in contributions to advertising. Independent Weekly co-publishers Steve and Cherry Fisher May, both past winners, and 1993 Silver Medal winner George Graham presented the award to Terry, narrating a video that looked back on his more than three decades in newspaper and niche magazine publishing.

Check out this week's Independent Weekly, on newstands Wednesday, for a comprehensive list of winners.
