BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Sen. Mary Landrieu isn't certain to know her political fate after the polls close in Louisiana's tight Senate race.
The Democratic incumbent led the field of candidates heading into Tuesday's election. But polls suggest the race likely will be decided in a December runoff between Landrieu and her chief Republican opponent, Bill Cassidy.
Landrieu says she believes she can win outright among the eight-candidate field, which also includes GOP contender and tea party favorite Rob Maness.
Polls close at 8 p.m.
If no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the voters' support, a head-to-head matchup between the top two vote-getters is set for Dec. 6.
Landrieu faces a tough race for a fourth term. She's the last Democratic statewide elected official in Louisiana, where President Barack Obama is unpopular.
