UL Lafayette's softball team plays the opening game of the 2008 Women’s College World Series against No. 1 seed Florida at noon this Thursday in Oklahoma City, Okla. The 51-13 Cajuns are seeded No. 8 and will be the visiting team in the first round. The Cajuns defeated Houston in a best-of-three series over the weekend to advance to the College World Series, the fifth such trip in the university's history. This is the first in Florida's history, the Gators entering with a 67-3 record.

After Florida, UCLA is the No. 2 seed, followed by Alabama and Virginia Tech. Seeds five through seven are familiar names to the Cajuns, as UL played each of them at least once during the 2008 season. Texas A&M is No. 5, followed by Arizona State and Arizona -- Nos. 6 and 7, respectively.

Each of the games throughout the College World Series will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. Visit www.ncaasports.com/broadcast under “TV Schedule” for ESPN and ESPN2 listings and game times. For more info on the Cajuns, click here.
