KATC-TV3 is teaming up with UL to produce a live, televised debate for the 7th Congressional District race between Republican incumbent Charles Boustany and his two challengers, Democratic state Sen. Don Cravins Jr. and the Constitution Party's Peter Vidrine. KATC anchor Hoyt Harris is moderating the debate, scheduled for 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 22 in UL's Bayou Bijou (inside the Student Union).

Harris, a seasoned journalist who has covered news and politics in Acadiana for two decades, will ask the candidates questions, which will also come from faculty, staff and students in UL's political science department. Those attending the debate and online users of KATC.com will have an opportunity to ask questions as well.

KATC will also have post-debate coverage during its 10 p.m. newscast that night.

All media are invited to attend and cover the debate. Read this week's Independent Weekly cover story, out on newsstands Wednesday, for more on the District 7 race.
