Get ready Omaha, here comes 'Mainieri's Tiger's'

Following up on his underground hits “Tailgatin' at Tigue More Field” and “LSU Football Champion Song (Les Takes the Tigers all the Way)," Lafayette resident and Louisiana Hot Stuff owner David Faulk has penned another sports anthem, this time for the LSU baseball team, titled “Mainieri’s Tigers.” Listen to the song on Faulk’s MySpace Page.

Reached in San Diego, where he is attending a niece’s graduation before heading to Omaha, Faulk says the seed for the song was planted in 2007 when the LSU football team was playing in the BCS Championship game in New Orleans. Faulk performed his song “LSU Football Championship Song” at a Tiger Athletic Foundation tailgate party in Jackson Square. Afterwards, newly hired baseball Coach Paul Mainieri came up to Faulk and told him he got a kick out of the tune. Faulk recalls Mainieri then jokingly asked if one day he could write one for the baseball team. “I remember saying, ‘When the time’s right, I’m going to do it for sure,” Faulk says. “Well, the time is definitely right.”

Faulk recorded "Mainieri's Tigers" last week and has passed along a few copies to friends (Faulk is not selling the CD). He plans to give a CD to Coach Manieri when he makes it to Omaha later this week and has sent ahead a copy to The Barleycorn Pub in Omaha, an adopted Tiger fan watering hole, where he hopes to hear it in regular rotation.
