INDsider sources in both Lafayette and Alexandria have confirmed that KATC weekend meteorologist Kari Hall is leaving the station in a few weeks to join the morning broadcast team at KALB. A 2003 graduate of Mississippi State University, Hall joined the Lafayette ABC affiliate in January of 2005 and covered the biggest weather event of the century — Hurricane Katrina (as well as Rita, Gustav and Ike). Hall also does environmental/ecological news reports for TV3.
Hall is headed to KALB, a hybrid NBC/CBS affiliate in Alexandria where she will join former KATC colleague Diana Raphael, who began anchoring and reporting at the station last summer. Hall is married to Kinnane Hampton. Her last day at TV3 is Aug. 24. She begins at KALB a week later. We wish her the best.
