I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Mary Tutwiler and The Independent Weekly for writing such an informative piece on the newly created Frederick l'Ecole des Arts ("Sculpting Minds," July 4). This nonprofit organization will serve as an important piece in the artistic development of this area and provide for the opportunity to regain our cultural heritage.
I do think it is important to remember, however, that there are many, many people involved. They are the "nuts and bolts" of this organized effort. I would also like to point out that the community, on all levels, has come together in support and that this combined effort far exceeds the boundary lines of our quaint community. All joking aside, I look forward to working closely with Mayor Richard and the newly elected town council.
Arnaudville was once a forgotten town at the edge of St. Martin and St. Landry Parish but is now serving as a "bridge" to other communities in the region, the state and the country. Working together is, and will continue to be, our goal.
