For the first time in the franchise's more than four decades, the Super Bowl winning New Orleans Saints lead the NFL in merchandise sales.

The team that had never even ranked in the top 10 for merchandise sales is now No. 1. That's right, for the first time in the franchise's more than four decades, the Super Bowl winning New Orleans Saints lead the NFL in licensed merchandise sales. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports: They beat out the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings in the total amount of licensed products sold on NFLShop.com during the league year, which ran from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010. Quarterback Drew Brees ranked second in individual jersey sales behind Vikings quarterback Brett Favre.

Revenue from sales on NFLShop.com is dispersed equally among the league's 32 teams, but the Saints keep all of the revenue from merchandise they sell at www.neworleanssaints.com or at the team store in the Superdome, according to the T-P.
