Langlinais begs pardon

Will Langlinais wants to go hunting. Carrying guns is a no-no for convicted felons, and since the former Iberia Parish president pleaded guilty to malfeasance in office in July 2007, he's lost the right to bear arms and vote. Will Langlinais wants to go hunting. Carrying guns is a no-no for convicted felons, and since the former Iberia Parish president pleaded guilty to malfeasance in office in July 2007, he's lost the right to bear arms and vote.

Langlinais recently filed an application with the state Department of Corrections Board of Pardons, asking for a governor's "gold seal pardon," according to The Daily Iberian. Evidentially Langlinais feels he has made restitution to the community after three years. He was originally sentenced to five years of hard labor, which was suspended, and five years of supervised probation.

Langlinais must schedule a hearing, possibly in the next several months, and go before the pardon board to make the request. The board sends a recommendation to the governor. Should he receive a pardon, the conviction will be expunged from Langlinais' record.
