B IS FOR BOUDIN
If you're trying to teach your little one about the wonders of the alphabet and maybe a little bit about the state they're growing up in then you just might want to check out Louisiana Alphabet by Laurie Parker, her third entry in the State Alphabet Book series. This whimsical look at the Pelican State's myriad of facets and quirks includes rhymes as colorful as the illustrations, "P: P's for Brown Pelican - it's our state bird. And P is for Pontchartrain, what a fun word. P is for Parish - a county of sorts, And Po Boys and Pralines and Pirogues and Ports." Louisiana Alphabet can be found at lulu.com for around $11. - Wynce Nolley

HIPPITY, HOPPITY
Lent is wrapping up, so it's time to start thinking about Easter. Renaissance Market in the Oil Center has the most adorable assortment of Easter decorations and treats for making a basket for that special someone or creating an exquisite table display. Included in the paschal collection are a precious trio of bristled bunnies, pastel petal-covered and porcelain creatures and brilliantly hued egg trees. This beautiful collage of Easter décor is sure to inspire your child - or the kid in you. At Renaissance Market, 902 Harding St., (337) 234-116. - Lisa Hanchey

FUNDAMENTAL FUSION
Cajun music is and always has been a force that stands completely on its own. But the Cajun brand's fundamentals - the guitars, fiddles, and even the cowboy boots seen on the feet of local two-steppers - are clearly fused with the honky tonk stylings of country music, a blend that's highlighted in the collision of Cajun and country sounds that make up The Right Combination. The latest collaboration from Cajun greats Jesse Lége and Joel Savoy, and the Caleb Klauder Country Band from Portland, Ore., takes the best of both worlds to another level of roots music with the combined band The Cajun Country Revival. "I feel that the best music is made by friends - people making music together because they want to be together and they want to share the experience of creating something unique and spontaneous," Savoy says on the inside cover of the new album.
