Local accounting and business advisory firm Postlethwaite & Netterville is hosting a free seminar, "Hot Topics in Governmental Accounting," for area government accounting professionals. "With budget cuts and decreasing resources, government entities are often challenged to find affordable training for employees," the firm notes in announcing the seminar, scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at River Ranch's City Club, 1100 Camellia Blvd. The firm says it recognizes this challenge and is holding the four-hour Continuing Professional Education seminar to help area municipalities overcome it.

Topics will include internal controls for governments, fraud risk areas, new standards, IT matters and local sales taxes. Those planning to attend should RSVP by June 21 to Robyn Barton at 337-234-8431 or [email protected]. Breakfast will be served.

Based in Baton Rouge, P&N announced its expansion into Lafayette in December 2008 and the following January acquired long-established Lafayette CPA firm Veazey & Company; its Lafayette office is at 400 E. Kaliste Saloom Road, Suite 2500.

Operating for more than six decades and employing upwards of 300 people, P&N is the largest Louisiana-based accounting and business advisory firm and ranks among the top 100 in the country.
