Meat market for charity

by Anna Purdy

Don't have a man and want one? Or have a man and want a different one? Come to Trynd Thursday night and buy one to benefit a charity. It's the American way!

Twenty local bachelors hand-picked as the most delectably eligible will be auctioned off to help The Children's Shelters of Acadiana Youth. This non-profit helps children who have been abused, teenage mothers and their babies and any other child admitted to its programs who needs help. All of tonight's proceeds go to aiding The Children's Shelters, from funding educational activities to therapists, to helping kids get on their feet and buying their basic necessities.

So tonight, starting at 8 p.m. at Trynd on Vermilion Street in downtown Lafayette (across from the parking garage) you can bid on the 20 bachelors who have decided to auction off a date with themselves in the name of altruism. They are:

Yasar Balbeisi, Robbie Boudreaux, Rick Broussard, Alex Caldwell, Casey Chauvin, Chima Chekaw, Greg Daigle, Toby Dore, Nick Duhon, David Gleason, Blair Herter, Nick Hundley, Kenny Klusman, Armand Ledet, Luke LeGros, Sean Maginnis, Kristian Mayon, Rylan Theriot and Blair Zuschlag.

A cocktail party where you can mingle with the bachelors and everyone else begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance at Brother's on the Boulevard or $15 at the door with, again, all the money going to charity. Call 237-1320 for more information and remember: no groping!
