Early voting begins Saturday

Voters wanting to beat the lines at the polls on Oct. 22 can take advantage of an early voting period that begins Saturday and runs through Saturday, Oct. 15.

Voters wanting to beat the lines at the polls on Oct. 22 can take advantage of an early voting period that begins Saturday and runs through Saturday, Oct. 15 at their parish registrar of voters office. The offices are closed Sunday, but otherwise open from 8;30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Any registered voter can cast an early vote.

The Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voters office is located at 1010 Lafayette St., Suite 313, adjacent to the parish courthouse downtown. Early voters will need to bring a driver's license, a Louisiana Special Identification card or "some other generally recognized picture ID that has your name and signature," according to the secretary of state's office.
