About twice a year a Nue Moon rises. The last 2011 Nue Moon Revue beins at 9 p.m. Dec. 3 and features Christine Pierce, Jonny Campos, Woody Randall, Paige Pemberton, Laura Huval and Korey Richey.

Nue Moon Revue is the brainchild of and organized by Caroline Helm, member of The Figs. "It's a singer songwriter showcase in the style of an old-time variety show," she says. There is an MC, the house band and live jingles just like an old radio show. One of Nue Moon's lures for watchers and sponsors alike are the skits and jingles created unique to each event which star the different businesses sponsoring.

The house band is helmed by Danny Devillier (drums), Cal Stevenson (bass), Chris Stafford (guitar) and Joel Savoy (fiddle). Regarding production of her show, Helm says, "I find six people who sing and write songs and often they are people who are behind the scenes or not known for being singer-songeriters. Each performer sends in three songs and I give those three songs to the house band. They learn all the music." This way the musician gets to not only be featured as a solo artist but have the support of an experienced backing band. The performances are always at Blue Moon.

Website for the show is nuemoonrevue.com. Admission is $10. Blue Moon Saloon is located at 215 E. Convent St. in the Freetown area of Lafayette.
