AUI is performing David Ives' Lives of the Saints in January.

Directed by Cara Hayden, Lives of the Saints is seven one-act plays that blend visual and verbal puns, fast wordplay and provokes thought. Ives is famous for playing with the idea of perception and how it morphs.

Ives is a New York-based playwright famous for his work in plays and musical theater.

AUI is one of the newest theater companies in Lafayette with its home at The Compound, a theater sandwiched between The Juliet Hotel and Carpe Diem Gelato & Espresso. This production features performances by Erin Segura, Elaine Kibodeaux, Gerard Ducharme, John Snyder, Martha Diaz, Vincent P. Barras, Cindy Hebert, Phillip Spear, Joseph Diaz, Cody Dunstan, Kaan Dere, Nancy Dere, Anne Dronet and Kathy Arceneaux.

Lives of the Saints premieres Jan. 12. On Jan. 13 AUI is collaborating with Bonnie Bell's to do a dinner theater performance. Other shows will collaborate with Carpe Diem.

It is a play with more adult themes. It is not salacious or filthy but it's not meant for kids, so be warned.

Performances are Jan. 12, 13, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m.; on Jan. 14 the performance will be at 8 p.m. after ArtWalk and on Jan. 15 and 22 Sunday mantineé performances will be offered at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be reserved at 873-1548 or [email protected]. Buy tickets online in advance here.
