Since 1955 Les Brigands de Lafitte have been known for their raucous celebration of the Carnivale season, and this year the masked krewe of pirates was in fine form once again. With dukes costumed as Super Heroes escorting the maidens of the court in white debutante gowns, the tableau was as colorful as ever.
As is tradition, dozens of lucky Ladies in Waiting, call out cards in hand, lined up at the door for hours in advance of the ball, angling for prime seating along the ballroom floor. INDStyle award-winning photographer Robin May snapped a few pre-ball portraits as respected fashion designer Raoul Blanco took note of Les Dames de la Porte.
"This was a new tradition for me. It was a night of bubbly, fabulous ladies and fun," he said. "It was good to see the elegant furs in the evening's chill, and the gowns were gorgeous. I saw lots of blouson and drape details, recalling vintage '80s lines in design. And the attention hair and make-up showed real flair and beauty. I had a fabulous time!"
This year's Maids of Honor included Amy Elisabeth Babineaux, Virginia Ann Bech, Caroline Renee Blanchet (crowned queen of the ball at the end of the tableau, as is custom for Brigands), Elizabeth Renee Domingue, EliseMonjure Dunaway, Ashley Elizabeth Mouton LaFrance, Meghan Elizabeth Perks and JoAnn Lucy Texada.
