MidSouth Bank and Dwight Andrus Insurance will once again join ABiz to produce the 9th annual Entrée to Business presentation, featuring Dr. Loren Scott and his economic forecast for Louisiana and Acadiana over the next two years. While the event is traditionally staged as a luncheon, a morning in the speaker's tight schedule opened up and ABiz Publisher Cherry Fisher May says she seized the opportunity to turn Entrée into a breakfast event. "Contractually, Loren is committed to underwriters of the forecast to present his findings first in Baton Rouge each year with Lafayette slated later in the cue of presentations he makes around the state," she explains. "The ink will barely be dry when we bring him to Lafayette on the morning of Oct. 11."

The popular professor emeritus of economics at LSU is known for interpreting complex data into useful, accessible numbers, and delivers his Louisiana Economic Outlook in Lafayette each fall as an ABiz exclusive. His analysis and projections provide local business leaders with valuable information as they adopt budgets and strategies for the upcoming year.

Dwight Andrus III, CEO of co-sponsor Andrus Insurance, says his company knows first-hand the importance of the presentation. "Year after year, Dr. Scott's insight on Acadiana's economy has been of great value to us and to our clients to help minimize some of the risk of doing business," he says. "We hope that decision-makers across Acadiana will take advantage of the power of this information as they plan for the year ahead."

MidSouth Bank's first vice president of commercial lending, Kevin Latiolais agrees. "Insight into the local economy is critical for us as we work to help our customers understand where things are headed so they can plan accordingly," he says.

MidSouth Chief Banking Officer Troy Cloutier notes the depth of the research: "We particularly like that Scott's model is supplemented with actual interviews with local executives to give him ear-to-the-ground intelligence."

Supporting sponsors include Cane River Pecan Co., offering custom branded tins of the finest south Louisiana pecans for corporate giving, and The Acadiana Economic Development Council, comprised of economic development pros in Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia, Vermilion and Acadia parishes. A copy of Dr. Scott's PowerPoint presentation will be posted on the ABiz website immediately following the breakfast, courtesy of Vidox Motion Imagery, the digital media sponsor.

The breakfast is slated for Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 a.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center. This event is a sell-out each year, and ticket sales are brisk. Individual tickets are $50 per person or $450 for a reserved table of eight. For information or to order tickets, contact Robin Hebert via email at [email protected] or by phone at 769-8603.
