Lafayette-based company ranks among fastest-growing private companies in the country. Schumacher Group has landed the position of 4,009 on the prestigious Inc. 5000 ranking. For the past 32 years Inc. magazine has ranked the nation's fastest-growing private companies. Based in New York City, the monthly pub focuses on growing companies.

In a letter to Schumacher Group founder and top exec Dr. Kip Schumacher, Inc.'s editor in chief says this year's list was harder to break into than ever. "The median company on the list increased sales more than 140 percent since the start of 2010, while the average honoree grew a mind-boggling 468 percent. Those are results most companies could only dream of in the economy of the past three years," writes Eric Schurenberg.

The Lafayette-based emergency department staffing and management company is now in good company, sharing a spot on the list with big names like Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Pandora and Oracle, and enjoying its debut with powerhouses like Alex and Ani, LivingSocial, Bojangles, Otterbox and KT Tape.

The Advocate reported Wednesday that New Orleans-based government services firm Hernandez Consulting was the state's highest-ranked firm at No. 526. The company's revenue jumped 867 percent to $16.8 million.

Schumacher Group, which ranks second on ABiz's list of the Top 50 Privately Held Companies in Acadiana with $624 million in 2012 revenues (behind Frank's International, which is now publicly held), was founded in 1994 and employs more than 1,800 people.
