Free dental care for music professionals

A free Dental Day will be offered to Louisiana's professional musicians in Lafayette on Wednesday. Everything from dental exams to X-Rays to extractions, fillings and teeth cleaning will be offered during the event for Louisiana's music industry professionals, including musicians, sound engineers, roadies, music producers and music agents.

The event is being offered through a partnership between the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, MusiCares - a service division of the Grammys - and the Smile Program, and will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bernadette's Community Clinic, located at 409 St. John St., in Lafayette.

"Whether you're a lead singer in the spotlight or a sound tech working the board, it's vital for music professionals to maintain good dental health," says Kathy Richard, Healthcare Initiative Director for LCEF. "Research shows that poor oral health is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other life-threatening conditions. Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation recognizes the vast cultural importance of our musical ambassadors and we're thrilled to team with MusiCares on this program."

No walk-ins will be accepted. For more information, or to register for an appointment, call 337.366.8970.
