Lafayette General opens Lung Mass Clinic

Southwest Louisiana's first dedicated lung cancer center should begin seeing patients in Lafayette in mid-January. The Lung Mass Clinic is located within the Cancer Center of Acadiana on the first floor of Lafayette General's Burdin Riehl Center on Coolidge Street.

"Patients would be referred by their doctor if an X-ray detects a spot' on their lung," says Daryl Cetnar, director of community relations at Lafayette General Health. The goal, notes Cetnar, is to have patients seen as soon as possible.

"If patients receive a cancer diagnosis, then they are able to come back to the same place for treatment, which is much easier for them physically and emotionally," he says.

The largest Pulmonolgy Group in Lafayette - Drs. George Guidry, Brad Broussard, Walter Brown, Jody Rosson and Javier Dieguez - will be treating patients at the lung center.

"Whatever the diagnosis, LGMC has comprehensive specialties on our main campus to treat the patient," Cetnar continues, "... without them having to run around town to different places and without them having to leave Acadiana."
