St. Joseph Diner meets the basic needs of the indigent by serving meals to the hungry.

St. Joseph Diner prepares and serves free lunch meals to anyone in need - those who are hungry and unable to secure food on their own are cared for through the efforts of the Lafayette Catholic Service Center's mission and funding. In addition to meals at the Diner, weekday lunches are delivered to the homebound and a low-income pantry exists to supply baked goods, holiday baskets and emergency food boxes for those in crisis.

In 2012 the Diner added a fruit and vegetable garden and chicken coop to supply produce and eggs to the diner and also provide agricultural learning opportunities for community volunteers and residents of the St. Joseph Shelter for Men and St. Michael Center for Veterans.

These efforts to reduce hunger in the community are mighty and today is your chance to help continue the works of the Diner. On Thursday, May 8 when choosing where to use your privilege of dining in a restaurant, make the choice to Dine for the Diner and give those who can't. When you eat breakfast, lunch, dinner or any snack in between, visit a community partner committed to giving 10 percent of your bill back to fund St. Joseph Diner.

"Lafayette loves to eat and Dine for the Diner is a simple way for the community to get involved in what we do. We need the support of the community through volunteering, financial and in-kind contributions to continue our work. In addition to the funds generated by this event, Dine for the Dine brings awareness to hunger and homelessness in Acadiana. Everyone comes together during Dine for the Diner for a common cause," says Sarah Clement, development director for Lafayette Catholic Service Centers.

In addition to restaurants, there will also be a food truck rally at Stine Lumber in Broussard from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. with participating Dine for the Diner food trucks.

The list of participating restaurants and business are as follows:
