Brittan Bush joins Liskow & Lewis, Blake David installed as the Third District Member of the Louisiana State Bar Association's board of governors, and Simien & Miniex announces 2014 scholarship winners.
Brittan J. Bush has joined Liskow & Lewis' Lafayette office as an associate. Bush's practice primarily focuses on energy litigation, environmental law, and maritime, oilfield and insurance issues. He also has experience assisting clients with matters involving the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and other environmental issues. Bush obtained his JD and Diploma in Comparative Law, magna cum laude, from LSU in 2012. At LSU, Bush served as articles editor of the Louisiana Law Review and as a senior graduate editor of the Journal of Civil Law Studies. Additionally, he was elected to the Order of the Coif upon graduation. Bush received his BA in political science, cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2009. Also at Liskow & Lewis, three Lafayette attorneys were among 23 attorneys in eight practice areas at the firm to earn a spot in the 2014 edition of Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business: Joseph P. Hebert, bankruptcy/restructuring; and Richard W. Revels Jr. and Lawrence P. Simon, energy and natural resources - oil and gas. **Lafayette attorney Blake R. David was installed by Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Johnson as the Third District Member of the Louisiana State Bar Association's board of governors. The board is comprised of 22 volunteer leaders charged with fiscal responsibility for the LSBA and with administration of the affairs of the association. The LSBA assists more than 22,000 members in the practice of law. David is a founding partner of Broussard & David law firm. He focuses on personal injury and wrongful death litigation with an emphasis on offshore/maritime, trucking accident, aviation, products liability, industrial accident and automobile claims. David is the immediate past president of the Lafayette Bar Association and is co-chair of Opus Christi Magnum.
This year's recipients of the Virginia Miniex/Margo St. Julian Simien Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the law firm of Simien & Miniex, are Hannah Broussard of Academy of the Sacred Heart, Skylar Courville of Early College Academy, Nicholas Johnson and Joseph Austin Mamou III of Lafayette High School, Kelsea Pierre of St. Martinville Senior High School, and Kylar Wiltz of Breaux Bridge High School. The recipient of the Legacy Award, a newly established scholarship, was Sadé Simien, daughter of Clyde and Patricia Simien and the late Margo St. Julian Simien. Broussard plans to attend Tulane University and major in biology; Courville will be attending UL Lafayette to study biology; Johnson also plans to attend UL to enter the pre-law program; Mamou plans to attend LSU and major in industrial engineering; Pierre will study nursing at Southern University; and Wiltz is attending Xavier University in New Orleans, studying pre-medicine and biology. Simien is majoring in chemistry at LSU.
