Cajun ground game leads the way to 4th win

Elijah McGuire and Alonzo Harris each had four rushing touchdowns, and Louisiana-Lafayette rolled to 419 yards on the ground in a 55-40 victory over Arkansas State on Tuesday night.

Running back Alonzo Harris contributed four of the eight rushing touchdowns that helped put the Ragin' Cajuns in Tuesday's win over Arkansas State.

McGuire had 19 carries for 265 yards, including scoring runs of 74, 13, 43 and 54 yards. Harris had three TDs in the first half and finished with 107 yards on 27 carries.

The Ragin' Cajuns (4-3, 3-0 Sun Belt) have won three in a row since a three-game slide that included losses at Boise State and No. 3 Mississippi.

Fredi Knighten threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns for Arkansas State (4-3, 2-1), which gained 595 yards on offense. Michael Gordon had 15 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Knighten also threw an interception and was sacked five times.

Louisiana-Lafayette scored 28 straight points on its way to a 34-23 lead at the break. Harris had touchdown runs of 4 and 22 yards in the first quarter, and then had a 1-yard scoring plunge in the second.

Harris had another 4-yard touchdown run for the only score in the third quarter.

Arkansas State also got a big game from Dijon Paschal, who finished with eight receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Cajuns quarterback Terrance Broadway was 9 for 17 for 102 yards. He also had eight carries for 38 yards.
