Lafayette General Urgent Care has hired two physicians, Michelle Taylor and Eric Guilbeau, both of whom were members of the first class to complete the family medicine residency program under LGH. Both physicians are natives of the Lafayette area. Taylor is employed at the Sugar Mill Pond location in Youngsville and Guilbeau is employed at the River Ranch site. The doctors practice family medicine at the urgent care centers, which see non-critical patients as young as 12 months old. Guilbeau joins internal medicine physician Farha Khan at the River Ranch location, and Taylor joins family medicine physician Pernell Simon at the Sugar Mill Pond location.

National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies Institute at UL Lafayette has named Clay Rives director. Rives served as associate director for the past two years, overseeing the research, development and outreach for NIMSAT. He has experience in areas of homeland security, emergency management, and criminal justice with specialized expertise in program development, critical infrastructure protection, cyber and information security, computer forensics, criminal investigations and grant management. Rives holds a B.A. degree in criminal justice from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master of public administration from LSU. He is a graduate of the 122nd LSU Police Training Academy and the 2005 LSU Command College. Also at UL, the newly formed Informatics Research Institute named Dr. Henry Chu executive director. IRI is an overarching institute that serves as a driver for optimization across three centers: NIMSAT, the Center for Business & Information Technologies and the National Science Foundation Center for Visual and Decision Informatics. Chu, a professor of computer science in the School of Computing and Informatics, received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Prior to his new appointment, he was the director of the School of Computing and Informatics from 2011 to 2014, and an assistant dean of sciences from 2009 to 2011. He is a registered professional engineer in the state.

Candra Scott, Christina Junker, Steffanie Steckler, Stephanie Pope, Tara Bienvenu and Tara Vicknair have joined the firm of Keller Williams Realty Acadiana as real estate agents. Scott has several years of experience in the service and management industry. Junker, who is working on a bachelor’s degree in business management at UL, also has several years of experience in the service industry. Steckler, who has a bachelor’s degree from UL, has five years of experience in the real estate industry, with a background in education. Pope, a native of Baton Rouge who earned a bachelor’s degree from LSU, has a background in marketing, education and insurance. Bienvenu, who has a bachelor’s degree from UL, has prior experience in human resources, leadership development and coaching. Vicknair has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SLU and is a certified personal trainer.

Christian B. Landry has joined his father at the Daniel M Landry III law firm, which is now called The Landry Law Firm. The firm has been serving the Acadiana region for more than 30 years with an emphasis on personal and business bankruptcy law, family law and estate and succession law.

Dupré Logistics is one of three companies to win the American Trucking Association’s President’s Trophy Award for 2014, the highest safety award given to motor carriers in the U.S. It is presented to three motor carriers each year, one in each of three categories: under 25 million miles, 25 million-100 million miles, and over 100 million miles. This is the second time Dupré won the President’s Trophy Award for the 25 million-100 million mile category. The Lafayette-based company received this recognition in 2010.
