Around Town: Acme Taco rolls out a new food truck

Acme Taco has operated out of its brick-and-mortar location on Coolidge Street in the Oil Center for the last two years, and that won't be changing, says restaurant owner Vic Patel.

Acme Taco has operated out of its brick-and-mortar location on Coolidge Street in the Oil Center for the last two years, and while that won't be changing, the company is rolling out a new concept, says restaurant owner Vic Patel.

"The idea is to get more people to know about Acme Taco by letting them try the food at the food truck, and then hopefully get them into our restaurant," Patel tells ABiz. "A lot of people think we're just a taco restaurant, but we're a lot more than that. I'd describe it more as an upscale Mexican restaurant."

Patel says the new food truck will launch on April 4 with an appearance at Metro Life Church’s Eggstravaganza event at the Youngsville Sports Complex.

Afterward, Acme's food truck will hit the streets between two and three times a week — in addition to special event catering — and will also make stops outside Lafayette, with upcoming scheduled appearances in Crowley and New Iberia. Acme's food truck will also be making regular appearances at the monthly food truck roundup at Parc Lafayette, as well as the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm on Saturdays.
