Workin' it Wednesday ... Brittany Boudreaux

by Amanda Bedgood

This Workin' it Wednesday is brought to you from the artist among us. Brittany Boudreaux is as fashionable as she is talented. The local artist has a flare for the funky in a way that's both retro and fresh. When we met months ago she had pink hair (and it was precious on her) and she has a penchant for black (a girl after my own heart).

The pic she sent — that dress came from (of all things) a clothing swap a friend attended.

"She grabbed it for me there and gave it to me as a surprise," Boudreaux says.

The patterned tights were also a gift and just the touch a creative soul like Boudreaux adds to her look.

"I love them because the repetition in the pattern always adds some visual interest to an outfit and they also make my legs look long and slender," she says.

Being an artist certainly influences her look.

"... it's important for me to feel as though I am showing my personality," Boudreaux says.

She says a sense of feminism informs her sartorial choices.

"... makes me feel less afraid to wear something bold and more confident in my own skin over all. I just try to wear what makes me feel confident that day."

We certainly agree.

For your own twist on the LBD take a cue from Boudreaux. Swap bare legs for funky tights or a simple shoe for something wild like a wedge with a print on it. A flattering little black dress is the perfect foundation to experiment with accessories and just the way to rock the same piece of clothing again and again without losing any panache.
