Lafayette-based Gauthiers’, which offers sale and rental of offshore containers, baskets and support equipment for the domestic and international oil and gas industry, has merged its operations with Singapore-based Modex, an international manufacturer of offshore equipment.
The deal will create the world’s third-largest offshore container company.
Modex has operations in Norway, Brazil, UAE, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and the United Kingdom.
The companies say the new partnership provides substantial advantages to both parties. Gauthiers’ benefits from adding full in-house manufacturing design and production capacity as well as capital support for its continued growth, while Modex gains access to the North American oil and gas market via Gauthiers’ locations, expertise and relationships with operators, contractors and service companies in the Gulf of Mexico.
Gauthiers’ branding materials will be updated to include “A Modex Company.”
Meanwhile, Gauthiers’ existing Louisiana locations (Lafayette, Houma and Port Fourchon) will continue under the same management.
