INNOV8 Acadiana and the Opportunity Machine are hosting the first free monthly meetup at LITE Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. The monthly meetups are called INNOV8 Frequency and will focus on bringing together the rapidly growing local community of software and hardware technology experts and enthusiasts. The first topic will cover objective-C and iOS development, which is the platform used to build applications commonly found on apple iPads and iPhones.

“It’s a great forum for local technology experts, UL students, software engineers, web developers and technology entrepreneurs to come together and learn from each other,” explains Tre King, founding member of local app development company Infascination, in a press release announcing the event. King says he envisions the technology meetups to serve as an outlet for community collaboration among technology professionals in Lafayette. He says he has seen similar groups in other areas such as Washington, D.C. make amazing contributions to serve their communities with the help of technology.

“The INNOV8 Frequency meetups will be the perfect arena for technology experts and enthusiasts to come and network, collaborate, and mentor each other,” King adds.

The first meetup will include a presentation on iOS development for business and community outreach. The meeting will also include an open discussion on the presented topic as well as networking opportunities afterwards.

In addition to King, other Frequency meetup leaders include Neil Mason of InventureWorks, Aaron Lozier of Potenza Innovations, Tyler Woerner of Pixelbrush Studios, and Toby Osbourne of Toast Mobile.
