Family Justice Center of Acadiana set to open Downtown

Soon, domestic abuse victims will have another avenue of sanctuary where they can receive more than just immediate help when the Family Justice Center of Acadiana opens its doors on Jan. 25 in Downtown Lafayette.

The center has been 12 years in the making and will provide domestic abuse victims a space where they can plan and act, including the option to meet an advocate, get safety information, speak with police, receive civil legal help and get information on shelters, all under one roof.

The Lafayette Family Justice Center will provide abuse survivors with a team of professionals who will work to keep them safe and help them move forward. Communities that have a local Family Justice Center have lower murder rates that relate to domestic violence, as well as reduced costs for domestic violence thanks to the center’s efficient response teams.

The Family Justice Center of Acadiana will be located at 210 W. Main St. in Downtown Lafayette. The center will host an open house on Jan. 22 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. to give the community a chance to meet the men and women behind the Family Justice Center and learn more about the services provided.

The Family Justice Center of Acadiana Partners include Faith House: Family Violence Intervention Program, 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office, Lafayette City Marshal's Office, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Office of Probation and Parole, Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Volunteer Lawyer Program, Avec les Enfants Supervised Visitation Center, Acadiana Legal Services Corporation, and Hearts of Hope.
