Family, friends and fellow musicians will gather Sunday, May 15 beginning at 2 p.m. at Warehouse 535 on Garfield Street to honor the late singer-songwriter, who passed away March 18 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. Egan was just a few days shy of his 62nd birthday when he died at home surrounded by family.

A longtime piano player and singer for the swamp pop super group Lil’ Band O’ Gold, Egan’s songs were covered on Grammy-winning and -nominated albums by Irma Thomas, Etta James, Percy Sledge, Joe Cocker, Solomon Burke and more. Egan also led his own band, 20 Years of Trouble, and released three acclaimed solo albums.

He was the subject of The Independent’s March cover story, “Great Clarity: Life, Death and David Egan.” Read that here.
