Arguably the most ambitious stage production ever to originate in Lafayette is ready to serve. Jambalaya the Musical, by celebrated writer-choreographerdirector Nancy Gregory, is seasoned with the talents of Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame songwriter Jeff Barry (“Leader of the Pack,” “Chapel of Love”) and Emmy-winning production designer Joe Stewart. It tells the tale of “T,” a heartthrob songwriter from Acadiana yearning for fame.

A cast of nearly 30 paid performers, most of them locals, tells through song, dance and drama the story of “T” and his colorful cast of cohorts, with music performed by Grammy winning zydeco legend Chubby Carrier.

The final full rehearsal of Jambalaya the Musical will take place at the Heymann Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to students with a picture ID. The public performance takes place the next night, same time, same venue. Tickets to the public performance can be obtained through TicketMaster.
