ABOUT THE ARTIST

With no professional training, Lafayette native artist Tony Bernard ventured into visual art in the early ‘90s. He began his relationship with late artist George Rodrigue in 1993 and started to develop his own “Blue Dog” so to speak. It was Rodrigue who gave Bernard the nickname of “Louisiana Festival Poster King.” He averages about six to seven local festival posters a year and also created the 2013 Festivals poster of musician Boozoo Chavis. Bernard sees the job of “official artist” as an opportunity to highlight Acadiana’s culture and the musicians that make it so special. For the 2016 poster and pin, he used his signature oak trees to portray the dance hall as an outdoor scene, reflective of the atmosphere during Festivals Acadiens et Créoles.

OFFICIAL FESTIVALS CDS & BOOKS

Commemorative items from last year’s 250th anniversary will be available for purchase, in addition to a special CD of “Walter Mouton and the Scott Playboys: Live at Festivals Acadiens et Créoles 1992- 2014.” Festivals goers can also visit the Kiosk des Auteurs in the Merchandise Tent for booksignings by Louisiana authors.
