U.S. Senate candidate Foster Campbell's fundraising has spiked ahead of the Dec. 10 runoff, as his campaign is bolstered by Democratic donors from around the nation.
Campbell had brought in $1.7 million for his campaign through Oct. 19 over nearly a year of fundraising — $984,000 from donors and $750,000 in loans. Since then, he's raised $2.5 million, much of it after securing his spot in the runoff.
Campbell's latest finance report was released late Tuesday by his campaign. It shows $1.4 million cash on hand for the final days of campaigning.
Louisiana's election will settle the last Senate race in the country. Campbell, a member of the Public Service Commission, faces Republican state Treasurer John Kennedy in the runoff. Kennedy's campaign hasn't released its latest campaign finance report.
