State agencies offer creative small-biz workshops

Turn your small creative business into a cultural enterprise with the “Creating Profits with Passion Boot Camp.” But you need to be SEBD certified to do it.

A pair of workshops the last week of March will help small business owners in creative industries incorporate strategies for turning their enterprise into a successful cultural business. The workshops are called “Creating Profits with Passion Boot Camp Lafayette” and will be offered March 23 and 30 from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $35 for both sessions and includes lunch.

But first you have to be SEBD (Small and Emerging Business Development) certified. Offered by Louisiana Economic Development, a pair of free SEBD certification workshops will be offered this week — at 1 p.m. Wednesday (March 8) and at 10 a.m. Thursday (March 9). The Wednesday workshop will be offered at 101 Jefferson St., Suite 100, in Downtown Lafayette; the Thursday workshop takes place at 1510 Bayou Courtableau Hwy. in Arnaudville. Participants are asked to bring a laptop. The “Creating Profits with Passion Boot Camp Lafayette” sessions will be offered at the same location as the Lafayette SEBD certification workshop: 101 Jefferson St., Suite 100. The focus of the Creating Profits boot camp is to give participants strategies and best practices for building a successful business in creative industries. They being offered by the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation in partnership with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center, the Foundation for Louisiana and LED.
