Due to the inclement weather that fell on Festival Sunday, TRAIL has decided to reschedule the annual Ride for Rox.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, April 30, the ride has now been moved to Saturday, May 20 to coincide with the Bike Safety Festival at Parc Sans Souci. Ride for Rox is a family-friendly and fully-supported bicycle ride in celebration of the life of Roxanne Richard, a local cyclist who was fatally struck by a vehicle in 2011.

Ride for Rox will still feature a free, four-mile family ride in partnership with the JDRF Diabetes Foundation. There is also a paid ride with distances of 30 to 70 miles and a stop at Bayou Teche Brewery in Arnaudville. The long-distance rides will leave from Parc Sans Souci at 8 a.m. The family ride will start between 10 &11 a.m.

The Bike Safety Festival starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until noon. The festival is produced by Broussard & David Law Firm, Bike Lafayette, and the Lafayette Consolidated Government. The festival will feature free bike registrations from Bike Lafayette, helmet and light giveaways, music by Melissa Stevenson of the Figs, and a bicycle raffle.
