The New Orleans Advocate reported June 19 that Marcello’s of Metairie has closed its 4860 Veterans Blvd. location, paving the way for Saltgrass Steak House, which has been expanding in the region, to take over the site.

ABiz reported on the expansion of the Lafayette-based Sicilian restaurant concept, a third location that represented a new partnership between founder Gene Todaro and the Moody family, in October 2015.

Todaro confirmed to the Advocate that a deal to sell the location was completed over the weekend. Renovations are slated to begin soon.

Todaro said reservations and functions booked for the Metairie location are being transferred to the Marcello’s Restaurant & Wine Bar in Downtown New Orleans.
