The Louis Ackal cartoon in your June 18 issue (“Snake Oil,”) shows very poor taste. I find it offensive.
The city of New Ibiera had its police force recklessly dismantled by idiots. The outgoing sheriff of Iberia Parish has pretty much not been available or accountable to the citizens who elected him, and the crime and murder rate has soared under his command.
I am looking forward to new leadership in law enforcement. Hopefully, we, the public, will be kept better informed about crimes occurring in our community. So let’s back off and give Mr. Ackal the chance to prove himself before trying to tear him down with ridicule before he even has the chance to take the reins.
