KEEP LAFAYETTE WATER FLOURIDE-FREE

For 50 years a toxic substance has been dumped into the water with the promise of preventing tooth decay. There is a chance for changing our ways following clarification if we search out Dr. Paul Connett’s “Fifty Reasons for Opposing Fluoridation” on the Internet or the Web site fluoridealert.com. Now we must make an effort to prevent TRUTH DECAY. The Lafayette Consolidated Council voted 8–1 to reject fluoridation on April 19.

Indeed, fluoride might help prevent tooth decay. However, dentists can apply fluoride to the teeth; there is no need to drink something that is a byproduct of the aluminum and phosphate industries. To prevent sun burn, we apply lotion, but do not drink it.

The American Dental Association (ADA) issued a warning on Nov. 6, 2006 advising mothers NOT to use fluoridated water in preparing baby formula. Breast milk has 250 times less (0.004) fluoride than the one part per million proposed by fluoridation advocates. Mother Nature is our best guide again.

To understand the danger associated with fluoride, simply check the warning on the back of a tube of toothpaste.
